Add opulence, play up your bedroom’s assets, whether it’s a beautiful period mantlepiece or wide windows, and emphasise a room’s proportions with a few striking pieces. In this case an elegant chandelier anchors the space while a Venetian-style mirror adds a note of glamour. In a compact space, don’t be afraid to opt for fewer, larger pieces of furniture which will make a greater impact than smaller pieces. Provide one or two key focal points to draw the eye to the outer spaces of the room, whether a striking piece of artwork, or headboard covered in luxe fabric.
The Rainbow room, every colour under the sun helps spell out H-A-P-P-Y in this fun, glorious room. Coordination? We’re having none of it – just throw everything into the mix and enjoy the result. After all, life’s too short to worry. Moody blue, soft grey walls, shadows moving across the bed, trompe l’oeil wallpaper, this space has hidden depths. Check out the iconic table lamp sitting behind the padded headboard (how do they do that?) and the egg-shaped chair that is defiantly mid-century modern. Maybe a masked avenger sleeps here.
Brilliant blooms, hydrangeas are such beautiful flowers and have long been favourites of the print team at Cath Kidston,’ says Christine Hafsten, Design Director,Cath Kidston. ‘It’s exciting to launch this brand new print for the Spring/Summer season. The hydrangea print includes delicate, spring-like blossoms in pretty pastels and the larger bunches featured have been designed with plenty of space to breathe, so that they’ll contribute to a relaxed layout, perfect for a light, Spring look in the bedroom.
Hot zone, got a novel to finish? Somehow, we think you won’t complete your tome here. Not with that view to enjoy each day, plus those large, embracing armchairs on the terrace look far too tempting. Still, we might stretch ourselves to send a few postcards home. Perhaps in a day or two. Screen goddess, while the kids hog the telly downstairs with their games console, we think you should move on up… Yup – a TV is cleverly hidden in the housing at the foot of the bed. If only we could get hubby to bring back the remote.
